Does WhisperBee really work without a cell signal?
Yes. Every write — voice recording, photo, edit — saves to a local database on your phone first. Sync runs in the background when the network returns.
Speak at the hive, gloves on. WhisperBee captures inspection notes by voice — or by hand on the mobile app or web portal if you'd rather type. The inspection saves locally even with no signal; AI extracts structured data and syncs across devices when the network returns.
Speak at the hive with gloves on, signal or no signal. Audio captures locally so a missing cell signal never costs you the inspection — transcription kicks off the moment the network returns.
AI turns each voice note into structured inspection data and flags concerns as action items so nothing slips through the cracks.
Every feature works without a network connection. Recordings, edits, and notes queue locally and sync automatically when you reconnect.

1. Tap the hive.
Tap your phone to the NFC tag on a hive. The first tap opens that hive — see the summary, with the last inspection's voice note ready to play back. A second tap on the same hive auto-starts today's recording, gloves on, no menus.
2. Capture the inspection.
Speak naturally — AI transcribes the audio with a beekeeping-tuned vocabulary, then extracts structured fields (queen seen, brood pattern, varroa count, temperament, and others) into the inspection. Concerns become action items on the dashboard.
3. Trust the offline path.
Everything saves locally first. Audio queues for transcription, photos queue for upload, edits hold their own. When the network returns, sync runs in the background — no spinner, no lost work.
Prefer typing to speaking? Every AI-extracted field is also a manual-entry field on both the mobile app and web portal — pick the path that fits the moment.
WhisperBee was built by a beekeeper who is also a software engineer, frustrated with taking notes in propolis-coated gloves and forgetting half the details by the time the truck door closed. Every feature earns its place against one job: the part of beekeeping where your hands are full and the bees are loud. More on the founder & mission.
Yes. Every write — voice recording, photo, edit — saves to a local database on your phone first. Sync runs in the background when the network returns.
The speech-to-text is primed with a beekeeping vocabulary list and post-corrected by a deterministic rules layer — supersedure, varroa, nuc, propolis all come through correctly without you having to over-enunciate.
No. Open the inspection on the mobile app or web portal and edit anything the model got wrong. The call on what to do for your bees is yours.
