About WhisperBee
WhisperBee was born from a simple frustration: trying to take inspection notes while wearing sticky gloves and a veil in the middle of a buzzing apiary.
As a beekeeper and software engineer, I kept thinking there had to be a better way. Pen and paper get ruined by propolis. Phone screens are impossible with gloves. And by the time you get back inside to log everything, half the details are forgotten.
WhisperBee is the tool I wished existed: speak naturally at the hive, and AI handles the rest. It extracts structured data from your voice notes, tracks action items, and keeps everything synced -- even when you are miles from the nearest cell tower.

We believe technology should serve beekeepers, not the other way around. WhisperBee is designed to be invisible during inspections and invaluable afterward. Every feature starts with the question: does this help the beekeeper make better decisions for their bees?
Our Principles
These are the rules WhisperBee is built on. They are decisions we have already made for you so that the product stays predictable when it grows.
- Offline is non-negotiable. Every write succeeds without a network. The phone is the source of truth; the cloud is just a backup that catches up later. If a feature only works online, it does not ship.
- AI is a suggestion, not a diagnosis. The inspection record is yours — open it and edit any field the model got wrong. The rules engine is deterministic and shows the reason it fired or suppressed an alert. You decide what to do — about a queen, a treatment, a swarm risk. The product is here to remember details and surface patterns, not to replace your judgment.
- Privacy at the data model. Your GPS coordinates are owner-only — never aggregated, never shared with other accounts. Photos are EXIF-stripped server-side before storage so location metadata cannot leak through an image. Account deletion and full data export are first-class operations, not buried buttons.
- Predictable pricing, no per-hive billing. You should never pay more because a hive caught a swarm. Tiers are stepped and flat-rate; the bill is the bill.
- Tell you what we are unsure of. When the rules engine suppresses an alert, the reason is the message — "No eggs likely weather-driven, 7 consecutive non-flying days" instead of just hiding the alert. We would rather show you a message that says "not sure" than dress up a guess as a fact.
